When will jBlog release?
"Correct me if I'm a bit wrong here, but I thought I had read on one of your blogs that you had an almost beta candidate of jblog??? Did I read that correctly? Because if so that would be nice. I saw the project on the joomla project section but I haven't found any files or SVN links to match."
jBlog is quite alive and kicking. No SVN's are currently published or available for a couple of reasons.
- Both joomla 1.5 and the
upcomingrelease of wordpress 2.3 are still very much beta and, in the case of joomla, not quite ready for prime time players (tho close). - There's quite a bit of refactoring to be done with jBlog *(since my first proof of concept model) back in Feb when WP was still roasting along with 2.1.
- Both mojoBlog and jBlog are learning lessons for me. I don't want to release projects into the wild that go horribly wrong after a gazillion folks downloaded and installed early beta software on their -live- sites and then I have to scramble to write point releases and fixes.
mojoBlog's a priority now as I've got a good mix of folks using it in a variety of environments who generate significant feedback to myself (and other users) that help -me- improve the code and reliability of the software. This makes it much easier to migrate stable features and functions into the eventual release of jBlog.
Personally, I plan to support and improve upon mojoBlog for as long as folks enjoy using it. I'm quite comfortable with the current (legacy) joomla and, as a contributor to it's semantic brethren a8ejoomla, don't see the rush towards the joomla 1.5 hype.
There, I've said it... I'm an old, cranky developer.. leave me alone.
